Composite Bonding in Kington,
Herefordshire

SmileFast composite bonding uses tooth-coloured resin to make selected changes to the shape, edges or visible surfaces of suitable teeth. Treatment is carefully planned around your oral health, bite and preferred appearance.

What Is Composite Bonding?

Composite bonding involves applying tooth-coloured resin to selected areas of a tooth. The material can be shaped and polished to repair small chips, improve worn edges, close selected gaps or alter the visible shape of suitable teeth. The extent of any tooth preparation depends on the individual case and the agreed treatment plan.

Why Consider SmileFast Composite Bonding?

SmileFast uses a planned workflow that may include photographs, digital records, a proposed smile design and a temporary mock-up. These stages allow you and the dentist to discuss the planned tooth shapes before the composite is applied. A preview or mock-up is a planning aid rather than a guarantee of the precise final result. The finished appearance depends on the starting condition of the teeth, the bite, material characteristics and the agreed treatment plan.

Kington Dental's Approach to Smile Enhancement

As a SmileFast Centre of Excellence, we combine the latest materials and technology to let you design your smile, test drive it in your mouth before giving you a predictable and aesthetic final result.

1

Consultation

Your dentist will discuss the changes you would like to make and examine your teeth, gums and bite. Suitable alternatives, limitations, likely maintenance and fees should be explained before treatment is agreed.

2

Design

Photographs, scans or other records may be used to create a proposed smile design. This helps demonstrate the intended direction of treatment but does not guarantee an identical final result.

3

Trial Smile

Where appropriate, a temporary mock-up may be placed over the teeth so you can review the proposed shapes and discuss possible adjustments before final treatment.

4

Fit

Tooth-coloured composite is applied and shaped according to the agreed plan. A guide or stent may be used as part of the SmileFast workflow.

5

Polishing

The composite is finished and polished, and the dentist will check the appearance and bite. Further polishing or minor adjustments may be recommended at review appointments.

Looking After Composite Bonding

Brush and clean between your teeth as advised, and attend the review and hygiene appointments recommended by your dental team. Composite may stain, chip or wear over time, so polishing, repair or replacement may eventually be required.Avoid biting hard objects, using your teeth to open packaging or biting nails. Tell your dentist if you grind or clench your teeth, as a protective appliance may be discussed where appropriate.

Composite Bonding Planned Around Your Smile

Composite bonding may make selected changes to tooth shape, edges, spacing or visible discolouration. Your dentist will explain what can reasonably be achieved and whether bonding, whitening, orthodontics, veneers or restorative treatment is the most appropriate option.

Who May Be Suitable for Composite Bonding?

Composite bonding may be considered for selected chipped, worn, uneven or irregularly shaped teeth and for certain small gaps. Before recommending treatment, the dentist will assess your teeth, gums, bite and existing dental work.

Active decay or gum disease may need treatment first. Where tooth position or bite is the main concern, orthodontic treatment, restorative care or another cosmetic option may be more appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Composite bonding can last for several years, but longevity varies according to the tooth, bite, material, diet, habits and maintenance. The resin may stain, chip or wear and may require polishing, repair or replacement over time.
Composite resin does not respond to teeth-whitening treatment. Where whitening is appropriate, it is usually considered before bonding so the composite shade can be selected afterwards. Natural teeth may change shade over time while the composite remains the same.
Composite bonding may be suitable for selected chipped, worn, uneven or irregularly shaped teeth and certain small gaps. Suitability depends on your oral health, bite, existing dental work and the extent of the changes required.
No, composite bonding is a painless procedure. It usually doesn’t require any drilling or anaesthetic, making it a comfortable and stress-free option for enhancing your smile.
Composite bonding may require little or no tooth preparation in selected cases, but this cannot be assumed for every patient. Removing or replacing bonding must be carried out carefully, and the dentist will explain whether the proposed treatment should be considered reversible.
Costs can vary depending on how many teeth are treated and the extent of the work. Dr Diana Pana will provide a full quote during your consultation, along with flexible payment options if required.
Yes, composite bonding is commonly used to repair chipped teeth, close small gaps, and make slightly crooked teeth appear more even. It offers a fast and natural-looking solution without the need for orthodontics or drilling.
Tooth-coloured composite is applied to the selected tooth surfaces, shaped according to the agreed plan, hardened with a curing light and polished. A guide or trial mock-up may be used as part of the SmileFast process.
Composite bonding is more affordable, quicker, and less invasive than porcelain veneers. It requires no tooth preparation and can usually be completed in one visit. However, veneers tend to last longer and resist staining better over time.
